We had a little scare this morning. Cedar, one of the resident feral kitties was very lethargic. The only one that Cedar lets care for him is Tanessa. She checked him out and he just laid there. He let her pet him for quite some time, still without moving. She knew this was a sign that something was wrong because normally he gets a few love pets and then walks off to join his friends. Also, he didn't eat this morning. We decided that if he didn't have an appetite by this evening we would have to cage him until we could discover why his behavior changed. Cedar did eat dinner but we will for sure keep an eye on him. Feel better Cedar!

Two very cute 8 week old female Russian Blue kittens were surrendered this afternoon. I love twins and I love these adorable gray faces!

Kitties that were adopted: Lily, Iris, Samson, Tumbo, Jet and Flo.
Jet and Flo were from a litter of ten. When we got them they were hissy, shy and they would hide from us. We split the litter and gave half to a wonderful volunteer, Becky and the other half to wonderful volunteers Eric and Sherry. They all have the touch for these types of kittens. If they don’t get extra TLC it is likely they will remain unsocial. Becky has made us several videos of her fosters showing us the patience it takes to get them to purr and accept love. Thank you Becky, Sherry and Eric, you are the kitten whisperer.

We let the two newbie’s out into the community today. Sam, the sweetheart that had his tail amputated and Pretty Boy, the abandoned kitty that was horribly matted. Sam hid under the benches most of the day. We need to keep telling him “Welcome Sam” and reassure him he will soon have many friends here at Almost Home. Pretty Boy spent most of his day on the Catio lying in the sun. You would have thought he had been here forever. He made himself right at home.

I caught Mama’s Boy, Lily and Valerie piled together asleep. Every once in a while they find each other and take a nap just like they did when they were babies. All three suffer from chronic URI and have been ill with it since they were kittens. It warms my heart to see them together.

You probably noticed we have a new blog background. Thank you Sylvia for helping make this so nice!

Watch the kitty webcam for the 16 new kittens that will be here tomorrow! http://ustre.am/REUt Let’s see who will be first on the wheel!
