We took in a very pregnant kitty yesterday afternoon. She has the look of the Dalmatian mommy, black and white. She was acting very much like a kitty in labor when she came in. After waiting a few hours past closing we decided to go home. She was still panting and lying flat with her eyes closed when we left. I fully expected to see a big litter of kittens this morning but no, it was false labor! I’m glad she settled down because just like with human babies it’s very important to “let the babies cook as long as possible in the oven."  Now today we will need to find a foster home for her where it is nice and quiet.
Anyone interested?

Eight cuties went for their spay and neuter surgery Tuesday morning and ten more are going in today. I’m sure it is very scary for them. They get to go back to their foster home for a few days to recover. I’m sure this helps! Thanks fosters! And thank you Marcie for taking them and thank you Karren for bringing them back. Karren has been helping Almost Home for 10 years! She also donates monthly. Karren is so committed. If you see her, please tell her how much we all appreciate her and how thankful the kitties are J

Okay, so you know the stray kitty I told you about that was all matted? He got his new “hair-do” and he also got a new “Almost Home”. Yep, we kept him. He’s a big boy, 15 pounds of adorable Siamese. We just couldn’t put him back where he was roaming the streets, begging for his next meal. Even the vet techs that groomed him thought he was way too sweet to be a street kitty. So far we are calling him Pretty Boy.

The proud parents of Precious and Howie came to visit. These kitties were left at Almost Home for nearly a year. We were helping a woman that had been in a car accident and her kitties didn't have anywhere to go while she was trying to recover. Well, she never got to the stage of recovery where she could go back home. So Precious and Howie needed a new forever home. Lately, Precious wasn't feeling well and after seeing the vet she was diagnosed with a heart problem. The good news is the medicine she is taking is working and Precious is back to her old self. She has been through so much. Before she was adopted by her prior mom some kids put a rubber band around her front leg. It did so much damage she needed it removed. So she is a very sweet tri-pod kitty. I wish the very, very, best for Precious, Howie and their new mom and dad!

Please remember to re-load your King Soopers cards. This allows Almost Home to get 5% of your total bill as a donation. It really adds up. Our goal is to make $2000.00 monthly! This will help so many kitties. If you don’t have a King Soopers card yet please send $2.50 to the rescue for each one ordered, 6010 W. 88th Ave., Westminster, CO, 80031. You can get one for you friends and extended family too. The way it works: when you pay for your groceries or gas, you just load the card with any amount you want via check, cash or credit card. This is done right in the check out line. Then pay for your groceries with the Almost Home King Soopers card. You still get all your discounts. Very simple and such a great way to give back! Greevey says “Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Gracie is asking for her third breakfast, Rocky is asking for permission to go outside on the Catio, and Sarah just took over Gracie’s bed… morning rituals at Almost Home.

Kindness to Critters Always,

Kathleen
